Dear heart heroes and families, supporters, donors and volunteers,

It is with a very grateful heart that we write this letter to all of our heart heroes, to all the families and friends, to our volunteers, to all the donors, and to the hospitals and their staff.

Pediatric Heart Foundation has served South Florida for the last two years by being one of the strongest advocates for acquired and congenital heart defects in the area, offering support to pediatric cardiac patients and their families, as well as funding local pioneer cardiac research. Our reach as an organization was not only local but international as well.

It is with that same spirit of gratefulness, for what we have been able to accomplish, that, after much consideration, we announce our dissolution as a nonprofit organization. Our current president will be moving overseas and our Board of Directors has decided to disband.

In order to stay true to our mission and vision, PHF will be donating 100% of its proceeds. These funds were collected from our successful 2012 5K Run/Walk and other donations throughout the year. Our Board of Director requested research project proposals from three of our local cardiac hospitals. After careful consideration, the Board voted to donate to the current research programs being done at Holtz Children’s Hospital, as well as to support the creation of the Miami Children’s Hospital Cardiac Pre-Operative Education & Research Room.

We were blessed to have a strong team of five officers and three board members. All of us are grateful for the opportunity to work with each other and for the chance to create beautiful relationships. We will all continue to serve our community by doing similar activities on a personal level. Specifically, Kelly and Reese Robinson and Tove Stakkestad have decided to stay active with local support for all of our heart families. Please find personal contact information below.

We cannot thank everyone enough for the heartfelt support we have received through the time we were working as an organization. We would like to reiterate, as we have done so many times, that we were able to accomplish so much in such short time because of your amazing support. Thanks to all the families that allowed us to be part of their amazing life stories. We took your stories as part of our lives too.

Our hearts are filled with gratitude for every heart family, donor, volunteer and supporter for partnering with us to impact the world as an organization for those affected by pediatric heart conditions in our community and overseas. We do not take this for granted. Thank you for believing in us!
